
ABOUT THE INCUBATION LAB
Let'doc Fellowship Programme 2025 will happen online.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The fellowship intends to mentor filmmakers on their ongoing projects, help develop strong narratives and visual treatment and guide them toward creating impactful and groundbreaking documentaries.
THEMES & SUBJECTS
The Let’sdoc Fellowship is open to:
- Human interest stories that reflect compelling personal or social realities
- Creative actuality narratives grounded in real-life events but told with innovation and artistic intent
- Projects with a unique personal viewpoint or strong directorial perspective
- Feature-length documentaries (over 60 minutes)
- Feature-length documentaries (over 60 minutes)
Let’sdoc welcomes documentaries across a range of genres, including:
- Observational – capturing real life as it unfolds
- Personal essay – reflective, first-person storytelling
- SocialIssues– exploring justice, gender, education, health, conservation etc.
- Biographical – portraits of individuals or communities
- Environmental – stories on climate change, conservation, ecological crises and sustainability
- Ethnographic – culture, tradition, identity
- Coming-of-age – youth, transformation, personal growth
- Historical/memory-based – revisiting the past through personal/archival lenses
DURATION
The fellowship will be conducted online over ZOOM and will have 2 week-long sessions in two phases from September to October 2025.
WHAT THE FELLOWSHIP OFFERS
The Letʼsdoc Fellowship offers Two Sessions of mentoring to 12 Indian Filmmakers selected from the open application process. The sessions will take place from mid-September to end-October 2025 as per the schedule.
During each session, mentors will work closely with fellows to guide them to evolve the current work, offering practical advice, creative approaches and relevant input. The sessions also include Screenings and Masterclasses.
On successful completion of the mentoring sessions and submission of the required deliverables within the stipulated time frame, one of the participants will be selected for the Let’sdoc Fellowship Award. The award offers selection and participation in DocedgeKolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary 2026.
DELIVERABLES
After Session 1
The fellows need to submit:
A clear written Narrative Outline of the project
A Revised Logline
A Revised Synopsis
A Revised Visual Trailer (3–5 minutes), incorporating:
- New visual elements or footage
- Improved storytelling direction
After Session 2
The Fellows need to submit:
- Final Logline
- Final Synopsis
- Director’s statement
- Final Revised Visual Clip
IMPORTANT NOTE
Let’sdoc sessions will include:
Story Labs
- Film Screenings & Discussions
- Masterclasses with experienced professionals
- Industry Dialogue
The incubation labs will be intensive, requiring:
- At least 10 hours of commitment per day
- Active participation throughout both online phases
Mandatory Declaration
Selected fellows must submit a declaration agreeing to:
- Prominently acknowledge Let’sdoc Residency in the film’s credits
- Include the Let’sdoc logo and appropriate credit text
- Ensure this credit appears in all forms of dissemination and promotion
