ABOUT THE INCUBATION LAB

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The fellowship intends to mentor and develop projects the filmmakers are working on at present. The fellows are intensively nurtured to skillfully develop their stories and visual treatment towards making a groundbreaking film.

THEMES & SUBJECTS

Letʼsdoc is open to human interest and creative actuality stories told with a unique personal viewpoint. The proposed film may be Short (at least 30 minutes) or Feature length above 60 minutes.

DURATION

The fellowship is fully residential and will have 2 week-long sessions in two phases from August to October 2024.

WHAT THE FELLOWSHIP OFFERS

The Letʼsdoc Fellowship offers Two Sessions of mentoring to Twelve Indian Filmmakers selected from the open application process. The sessions will take place from August end to mid October 2024 as per the schedule. During each session, mentors will work closely with fellows to guide them evolve the current work, offering hands-on advice, creative approaches and relevant input. The sessions also include Screenings and Masterclasses. Mentoring process will be followed by a film screening each day. .

On successful completion of the mentoring sessions and submission of the required deliverables within the stipulated time frame, one of the participants will be selected for the Let’sdoc Fellowship Award. The award offers selection and participation in DocedgeKolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary 2025.

DELIVERABLES

After Session 1

The fellows need to work on a clear delineation of the Narrative Outline of their projects within 4 weeks after attending the first session of residency.

The fellows will need to submit a Revised Logline, Synopsis and Treatment of the project along with a Revised Visual Trailer of 3-5 minutes (it is expected that the trailer is further developed with the inclusion of new elements/footage for greater clarity) within the four weeks after the first session.

After Session 2

The Fellows need to submit the final revised logline, synopsis, treatment and revised visual clip within four weeks of the session.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Let’sdoc session will be a combination of Story Labs, Screening/Discussions and Masterclasses

The incubation sessions will be intense and participants will have to dedicate substantial time (at least 10 hours a day) during their residency in Kolkata for both phases of the workshop.

Participation is mandatorily residential.

Mentoring process will be followed by evening screenings of films every day.

Participants must be willing to travel to Kolkata for the workshops for mandatory participation in both sessions.

Selected fellows will be provided with accommodations, breakfast, working lunch and evening tea/coffee. All other meals and expenses will have to be borne by the participants.

The accommodation provided by DRI for participants will be on a twin-sharing basis.

Filmmakers are required to make their own arrangements for travel to attend the programme in Kolkata.

The programme venue will be announced later.

Mandatory Declaration

The selected fellows will have to submit a declaration that Let’sdoc Residency is acknowledged in the film’s credit prominently with logo and appropriate text in all forms of dissemination and promotion.
