Galia Bador has been serving as the director of Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival since 2009. She was the Director of the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival in 1996, Initiator & Director of the Shorts Film Festival in 1997, Producer of the Ramallah-Tel Aviv Int’l Human Rights Film Festival in 2000 and CEO of the Israeli Documentary Filmmakers’ Forum from 2005-2008. Galia also lectured on Film & Video Media at the Champlain College in Israel (1999-2004) and Production Studies at Camera Obscura Film School (2000-2005).
She has produced award-winning films like ’Jerusalem is proud to present’ (directed by Nitzan Giladi and Winner of Human Rights Award) and ’The Debt of Aharon Cohen’ (directed by Amalia Margolin and winner of BANF Canada in 1999) as well as other films and TV series.
Docaviv – the Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival is the largest film festival in the city of Tel Aviv, and the only festival in Israel dedicated exclusively to documentary films. It is among the world’s leading documentary festivals, with over 130 new local and international documentaries screened each year.
As a festival that aims to encourage the creation and distribution of influential, moving and powerful films, Docaviv hosts a range of multi-faceted workshops and meetings with the world’s leading documentary filmmakers.
