MADELINE ROBERT, Member Selection Committee, Visions SUD EST Switzerland
Madeline Robert joined Visions du Réel’s selection committee in 2015. Two year later in 2017 she became special advisor of the artistic director. With experiences from various festivals in France and other countries Robert dedicated her career to documentary films and settled in Lussas in southern France in 2008, within the Documentary Village. Robert co-founded the production company Les Films de la caravane there and mainly focuses on producing first documentary films. In 2012, she took part in setting up a space dedicated to documentary films within the Cannes Festival Film Market, called the Doc Corner.

Visions du Réel’s, the International Film Festival at Nyon, Switzerland, 50th edition took place from 5th to 13th April, 2019. The festival includes several competitive sections for presenting films in world and international premieres, as well as a few non-competitive sections, for a total of around 170 films. Visions du Réel selects films that through their formal and aesthetic choices provide personal expressions of realities freely interpreting the very definition of documentary filmmaking and its implementation. With the aim to search for emerging directors, it is the only non-fiction film festival in Switzerland and one of the most renowned internationally. The industry activities, which bring over 1,200 professionals to Switzerland, are held as part of the Festival, allowing attendees to make connections for funding, co-production, promotion and film-rights acquisition.
