Gunny went to Wayne State University in America where he studied Mass Communication and Film & TV Production. He began with a major in Architecture but he eventually moved to Film & TV. Before he started studying, he used to work as an intern in the local TV network station in Detroit. He has worked at the ABU Headquarter in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a Program Producer from 2010 to 2011 and was one of the training New Media TV Producers at the Radio Netherlands. When Gunny began his career as a TV documentary director at EBS Korea, most of his documentary programs covered investigative or cultural content. However, after he got exposed to European TV and content and after working as a NewMedia Producer at the Radio Netherlands, his style changed and his perspectives expanded to match the international grounds. In 2004, he had become one of the members and the first programmer of EBS International Documentary Film Festival (EIDF). Gunny has been involved in documentary production and international film festivals for most of his career. He is currently working for the EIDF as an Executive Producer. EBS Korea is one of the national public TV media networks that serves cultural and educational needs. EIDF began back in 2003 and was the first International Documentary Film Festival then.
