EDDA BAUMANN-VON BROEN, Co-founder & Executive Producer, Avanti Media + GmbH, Germany
Edda Baumann-von Broen has been an award winning director and producer for over 20 years now. While studying in New York on a scholarship, she began directing and producing documentaries examining New York, which shaped her interest in the urban art and music culture. After moving back to Berlin she co-founded Avanti Media and continued to diversify. In 2001, she scripted the award winning program “Into the Night” for ARTE, a monthly documentary series which she still produces. To extend her focus on international documentary co-productions, she launched Avanti Media+ in early 2013. Edda has produced over 100 films, including the multi-awarded “Moebius Redux” (2006), a documentary on visionary artist Jean Giraud, underground favorite “Monsterland” (2008) and the ground-breaking documentary “Tall Girls” (2013), a film she also directed and which was screened for competition at the Warsaw Film Festival. She just finished post-production on the feature length documentary “Real Men”, a visually stunning re-examination of how manhood works for the big screen and its influence on men around the world. She has been a juror for the International Emmy Awards for the past 20 years. She is also a member of the European Documentary Network (EDN) and works as a tutor for international film workshops and film schools. Avanti Media+ is a Berlin based independent film production company, focused on high quality documentary films for national and international markets. It aims to produce documentaries that deal with socially relevant issues and tell unique stories with contemporary means of expression.
