HANS ROBERT EISENHAUER, Managing Director Ventana-Film GmbH, Germany
Hans Robert Eisenhauer had been working for ARTE since its foundation in 1991. After his retirement from ZDF and ARTE in 2011, Hans moved to Berlin and started a new career as an independent producer with the production company Ventana-Film GmbH, a Berlin based TV and Film production company, focused on international documentary films, including cultural and current affairs TV programs. Hans became the Managing Director of Ventana in June 2011. Ventana’s German-Syrian coproduction, “Return to Homs” by Talal Derki had its world premiere at IDFA 2013 and received the Grand Jury Award for the Best International Documentary Film at the Sundance Film Festival 2014. Hans continued working with Talal Derki on his second feature length documentary film “Of Fathers and Sons”, which won the Grand Jury Award at Sundance 2018 and has also been nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars 2019. Currently, he is working on the co-production of “Watch over Me” by Indian filmmaker Farida Pacha among other projects. Hans has been responsible for more than 2000 theme-evenings and about 60 feature-length documentaries for cinema and television, a large number of current affairs programmes and series. Hans also works as a consultant and lecturer for different film workshops like the Documentary Campus E.V. and the Greenhouse Workshop for young filmmakers from the Southern Mediterranean countries.
