ALOKE DEVICHAND - Senior Commissioning Producer, Al Jazeera English, Malaysia

Aloke holds a BSc in Management from the London School of Economics, and an MSc from the School of
Public Policy at University College, London. He is presently the senior commissioning producer in the documentaries department at Al Jazeera English (AJE). AJE is a 24-hour English language international news and current affairs channel, with a reputation for fearless reporting from the heart of the story. Its award winning programming takes viewers inside the key stories to provide the grassroot perspectives that reveal the human face of world news. It transmits to more than 260 million households on six continents and in more than 130 countries. Aloke commissions, acquires and co-produces projects for the channel’s flagship character-led strand, Witness, while also working on standalone series and specials.
Aloke has also helped build a short docs strand for Al Jazeera’s digital platform based in San Francisco, AJ+, which has become one of the world’s largest social media video publishers. In the past, Aloke has worked for CNN International in Hong Kong, and for UK production companies making programmes for the BBC and Channel 4.
