CATHERINE OLSEN - Executive Producer, Passionate 4 Docs, Canada

Catherine began her career in Vancouver as a camerawoman and editor, and has since worked as a TV journalist, writer, director, and documentary producer. For 22 years, Catherine was the Commissioning Editor of the CBC’s “The Passionate Eye”, an award-winning series specializing in political and social issues that she developed into one of the most successful documentary strands in North America. She also had the unique opportunity of hosting the series for 8 years.
Catherine is the Executive Producer at Passionate 4 Docs. It is a Canadian based production and editorial consulting company specializing in international documentaries dealing with political and social issues.
Catherine has a wealth of experience in the international marketplace and is now working as a Documentary Consultant, Producer, Moderator, Tutor and Editorial Coach. She has moderated pitching forums and has also worked as a consultant and tutor at Film Festivals and workshops around the world including IDFA in Amsterdam, Hot Docs in Toronto, Docs Barcelona in Spain, DocedgeKolkata in India, and the Mia Market in Rome.
Catherine is one of the founding members of the Canadian Documentary Festival, Hot Docs, and for
many years, a member of its international advisory board.  The films Catherine has commissioned or invested in have won almost every available award including the Oscar, Emmy, Canadian Gemini, BAFTA, and Peabody awards.
