Irena Taskovski is the founder and Managing Director of Taskovski Films, London-based world sales and Production Company of independent documentary films. It has served as co-producer and sales agent of the multi-award winner documentary ‘Czech Dream’ (Grand Prix DMZ Docs), ‘People I could have been and maybe I am’ (Winner of IDFA, Visions du Réel, HotDocs) and ‘Cooking History’ (nominated for the European Academy Award, winner of special jury award at Hot Docs 2009, FIPRESCI Jury Award, Leipzig DOKS 2009, and many others). Among their latest titles are Venice FF winner for the Best Documentary ‘The 1000 Eyes of Dr Maddin’ by Yves Montmayeur, about controversial Canadian film director Guy Maddin. Originally from Bosnia, Irena studied in Prague, graduating from the Film Academy (FAMU). She has also studied at the Sam Spiegel Film and TV School in Jerusalem and obtained a Masters degree from the National Film & Television School in London, UK. Irena is a lecturer at the Prague Film Academy (FAMU), and tutor at the Prague Institute of Documentary Film, as expert on international film sales and distribution, with the focus on European creative documentary cinema.
