Mandakini Gahlot Mandakini Gahlot | Talent Ambassador | The Whickers | UK Mandakini Gahlot is a filmmaker based in India. She is a partner at the New Delhi based production studio Elefant Films. In 2022, she served as Director and Executive Producer of Keeping the Music Alive, a film about Afghanistan’s only all-female orchestra. The film was nominated for the International Documentary Association’s (IDA) annual awards in 2023, under the Best Music Documentary category.

She is currently producing Camels of the Sea (DocedgeKolkata incubated film), directed by Vikram Singh who was awarded the Whickers Film and TV Award in 2024 for the project.

The Whickers
The Whickers was set up 10 years ago with the generous legacy of the pioneering broadcaster, Alan Whicker. It aims to fund and support emerging directors of international, independent documentaries in today's competitive market.

Its top prize of £100,000 has been won twice by Indian first-time feature-length filmmakers, the most recent being Vikram Singh for Camels of the Sea. Vikram was also a former winner of the Docedge Whickers Bursary.
